Heracles

Heracles is best known as the strongest of all mortals. Stronger then many gods. So strong he was the deciding factor in allowing the Olympian Gods to win their battle with the giants. He was the last mortal son of Zeus. He is the only man born of mortal woman to become a god upon his death.

Offsetting his strength was a noticeable lack of intelligence or wisdom. Once when he became too hot he pulled his bow out and threaten to shoot the sun. This coupled with strong emotions in one so powerful frequently got Heracles in trouble. While his friend and cousin Theseus ruled Athens, Heracles had trouble ruling himself. His pride was easily offended. He took up grudges easily and never forgot them. His appetites for food, wine, and women were as massive as his strength. Many of Heracles great deeds occurred while doing penance for stupid acts done in anger or carelessness.

It would be easy to view Heracles as a muscle bound buffoon. Indeed, many of the comic Greek playwrights used him this way. Even among serious critics he was often seen as a primitive, brutal, and violent. There is much to support this view. His chosen weapon was a massive club. His customary garment a lion skin, head still attached. He impiously wounded some of the gods. He threatened Apollo priestess at Delphi when a answer to his questions was not forthcoming. He created most of his own problems.

However, Heracles as simply a macho buffoon is unfair. If he held grudges, he would also do anything to help a friend. Once his anger passed he was the most critical judge of his own actions. He was too strong for anyone to force a punishment on him. That he willing did severe penance shows a fundamental sense of justice. During his punishments he shows patience, fortitude and endurance that are as heroic as his strength. Terrible things happen to him because of Hera's hatred, a hatred that he is not responsible for. That he perseveres through it all is a moral victory beyond simple strength.

The view of Heracles shifted considerable over time. The early view focused on how badly he managed despite his obvious gifts. As time passed the focus shifted to his virtues. The Romans valued him highly as he best fit their idea of a hero. He eventually had a fair sized cult that worshiped him as a god.

Minos

Minos was the King of Create. He was the son of Zeus and Europa. He created a famous legal code. His success as a law giver was such that after his death he was made one of the three judges of the dead in the Underworld. During his rule Create became a major power with an excellent education system, wide spread trade, impressive buildings, and flourishing arts. It became the strongest navel power.

Hera a Greek god

Hera is Zeus wife and sister. She was raised by the Titans Ocean and Tethys. Shea is the supreme goddess, goddess of marriage and childbirth and takes special care of married women.

Hera's marriage was founded in strife with Zeus and continued in strife. Zeus courted her unsuccesfully. He then turned to trickery, changing himself into disheveled cuckoo. Hera feeling sorry for the bird held it to her breast to warm it. Zues then resumed his normal form and taking advantage of the suprise he gained, raped her. She then married him to cover her shame.

Once when Zeus was being partcularly overbearing to the other gods, Hera convinced them to join in a revolt. Her part in the revolt was to drug Zeus, and in this she was successful. The gods then bound the sleeping Zeus to a couch taking care to tie many knots. This done they began to quarrel over the next step. Briaerus overheard the arguements. Still full of gratitude to Zeus, Briareus slipped in and was able to quickly untie the many knots. Zeus sprang from the couch and grapped up his thuderbolt. The gods fell to their knees begging and pleading for mercy. He seized Hera and hung her from the sky with gold chains. She wept in pain all night but, none of the others dared to interfere. Her weeping kept Zeus up and the next morning he agreed to release her if she would swear never to rebel again. She had little choice but, to agree. While she never again rebeled, she often intrigued against Zeus's plans and she was often able to outwit him.

Most stories concerning Hera have to do with her jealous revenge for Zeus's infidelities. Her sacred animals are the cow and the Peacock. Her favorite city is Argos.

Are you a genius?

Hi every one. Try and work this out. To start the month right figure out the word concealed in the following poem. By selecting the right letters you will come up with an appropriate word. My first is in silly but not in fool. My second in pupil but not in school. My third in read and also in write. My fourth in glimpse and also in light. My fith in ten but not in three. My last in glad and also glee. My whole a season of the year. That's clue enough to solve it here.

A review of simpson's HIT AND RUN!!

Simpson's hit and run is a challenging game with its 7 levels with mitions and races on involving chases and lots of other things that I enjoy. I think the hit and run part of it is a good idea because if you are in a group you can say theta when one of you gets bused that its the next persons go. The levels have the different character's in them like in the first level it is Homer the second level is Bart the third level is Lisa the fourth is Marge the fith level is Apu the sixth level is Bart again and the seventh and final level is Homer again. I think that this is one of the best games I have played on and is rated seven and over. I think this gome is a four star game.

Joke Time!

A man starts a job at a zoo so he visits the head keepers office on his first day. The head keeper says that "if any animals die while you are looking after them you will pay for them. If you wonder what the price is of one of the animals you will find it in the red book on my desk". The man thought that he would be ok because he would look after them really good. His first job was to clean out the finch cage. While he is sweeping a finch falls from its perch SPLAT! DEAD! He was shocked. He goes to the head keepers office and looks in the red book to see how much the finch would cost. It cost £10 and he wasnt expecting it to be that price. He scoops up the finch and throws it into the lions cage.
The next job is to feed the chimps. Two chimps were playing on a swinging tyre and it was held up by a rope. SNAP! The rope broke in half and down came the chimps. SPLAT! DEAD! He looked in the red book £5 per chimp! He scoops up the chimps and chucks them into the lions cage.
He then went to mow a big field. He was driving a tractor with big cutters in a field with loads of trees. While he was doing this one side of the cutters hits a tree and knocks down a bee hive. BUZZZZZZZ! The bees dropped into the cutters. SPLAT! DEAD! The man looked in the red book £10 per bee and there were 5000 bees in the hive £50 000!
He scooped up the bees into a wheel barrow and tips them into the lions cage.

Finch, chimps and mushy bees! Yum Yum!
